BBC docs explore opera’s past and present (Ausschnitt)
|
|
... Also on tap at the BBC is Jonas Kaufmann Tenor For the Ages, a new film
from John Bridcut that gives audiences access to one of operas most famed
stars.
Produced by Crux Productions, the one-off program follows
German tenor Jonas Kaufmann for the last two years on and off the stage. The
film captures the singer when his schedule is disrupted due to vocal injury,
as well as his recent return to the stage.
Kaufmann is filmed working
with the Royal Opera’s music director Sir Antonio Pappano, and the
production’s stage director Keith Warner. The tenor talks about his earlier
cancellations, about what keeps him going during a run of performances and
the challenges of being famous.
Jonas Kaufmann Tenor For The Ages
premieres Oct. 15 on BBC4.
